HS Solo & Ensemble Results

Congratulations to the Eastwood High School Band members who earned 16 superior, 11 excellent and 2 good ratings at the Ohio Music Education Association HS Solo & Ensemble held Saturday, January 28 at Lake HS. Students are adjudicated on a 5 point scale with a Superior "I" being the best score possible. This year was the most events entered for the Eastwood Band in the past 25 years.

OMEA District 1 Honor Bands

The OMEA District 1 Honor Festival was held Sunday, February 12th at the Stranahan Theater. Eastwood Band Students performing were 8th graders Melinda Barman, Hope Harvey, Jonathan Nassaux and Connor Oberhouse; and HS students Jacob Booms and Amanda Withrow. Both the MS and HS Bands gave outstanding performances!

TSO Young People's Concert - 7th Grade

A select group of 7th Grade Band members attend the Toledo Symphony's Young People's Concert at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle. The theme of the concert was music inspired by or relating to water. Pieces included "Hornpipe" from Handel's Water Music Suite and "The Moldau" by Smetana. Students completed correlated listening activities, and read about composers to prepare for the performance. Following the performance, students took a brief tour of the Art Museum.

OMEA HS Large Group

As noted on the performances above, the HS Concert Band will be playing at Large Group Adjudicated Event on Friday, March 3 at 8:30pm in the Bowling Green HS Performing Arts Center. The band will be adjudicated by a panel of three judges on their prepared pieces, and one judge for sight reading. The individual scores will be averaged into a final rating. Please plan to attend this public performance to support your Eastwood Band!

OSU MS Honor Band Festival

Among the 370 musicians of the 2017 Ohio State Middle School Honor Band Festival this Saturday with be Eastwood 8th Grader Connor Oberhouse and 7th Graders Sydney Ameling and Logan Farnsworth. It promises to be a rich day if learning, joy, and music making. The 4pm concert will be streamed live via the internet. Please share the link below with family and friends who are unable to join us in Mershon Auditorium. The broadcast will begin just moments before 4pm.


BGSU MS Academy Band

The BGSU MS Academy Band continues to gain steam. This semester's Eastwood delegation include 8th Graders Carson Charville, Ashton Hill, Jonathan Nassaux and Melinda Barman; and 7th Graders Samantha Stewart, Emilia D'Amore, Angie Weis, Kalee Moore, and Logan Farnsworth. Performance details will be announced closer to the dates.

2018 HS Band Florida Trip

We will soon have a payment schedule for the 2018 HS Band Florida Trip. The total cost will be The spring break itinerary will include a day at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Universal's Islands of Adventure; partial day at Typhoon Lagoon water park, Universal Studios and Disney Springs; and Your Instrumental Workshop and marching in the afternoon parade at the Magic Kingdom. Earn Travel Notes for the trip by participating in the Scrip Program and monthly community recycling.

World's Finest Chocolate Sale Ends

Please return money for the World's Finest Chocolate Bar Sale in a sealed envelope with the student's name. Money and unsold bars should be given to Mr. Myers by Friday, February 24.

Recycling Reminder

The monthly recycling run by the Eastwood Band Boosters is Saturday, March 11 from 9am-12pm. This is another way to earn Travel Notes. The Pemberville location is in the Public Works yard beyond Obie's Flowers on Sherman St. The Stony Ridge location is near the corners of Railroad and Oak Streets.

Eastwood Band Boosters Meeting

The Eastwood Band Boosters will meet Monday, February 27 in the HS Library at 7:30pm. There will be important discussions about future leadership, expanded funding and the upcoming Eastwood Jazz Festival.
