BIOTIC FACTORS: Living factors in an ecosystem

These are some few BIOTIC factors living in the coral reefs that i thought were pretty neat,

Sea Fans , Blue Spine , Saddle Warsse , Faisua (giant clams) , Clown Fish ( NEMO ) , Green Sea turtles , and Algea.

ABIOTIC FACTORS: Non living factors in an eco-system.

Cold water

Sun

Oxygen

Sand

Rock

CARRYING CAPACITY:The number of people, other living organisms, or crops that a region can support without environmental degradation

In the coral reef, if the coral reefs were to die, that would make the shelter of all the animals living in the coral reef for shelter die, they would die because the would know have no shelter.

LIMITING FACTORS:resources or environmental conditions that limit the growth, abundance, or distribution of an organism or a population of organisms in an ecosystem.

LIMITING FACTORS TO THE CORAL REEF:

Climate change  (biggest limiting factor)

Polution

Coastal Clearing

Road Construction

WHITE TIPPED REEF SHARK

The White Tipped reef shark feeds on sleeping fish in the reef. If road debris , had came in the ocean the coral reefs would be broken, witch would cause the fish not to have a shelter and die, then the White Tipped Coral Reef Sharks would have nothing  to eat, and become extinct.

ENERGY ROLES

EXAMPLE BELOW / DEFINITION OF ALL LEVELS WITH CORL REEF

1. The producer of the coral reef is the algea, or sea weed etc.

2.The primary consumer of the coral reef is Scaridae , or Clown fish etc.

3. The secondary consumer is the Carnax Ignobilis, or the Sea bass etc.

4. The tertiary consumer is the  Reef shark, or the Hammer head shark!

EACH ENERGY ROLE GETS ITS ENERGY FROM THE LEVEL BEFORE/BELOW IT ON  A PYRAMID!

Producers get their energy from the sun, Photosynthesis. With out the producers, there would not be life, no oxygen , or food provided for s food web.

FOOD CHAINS AND FOOD WEBS

Food chains go in one straight line with one specific animals food chain, a food web connects  with more orginisms, a wider varity.

If I were to take out a populatoin, in an ecosytem, it would fall a part, depending on what i took out, if i took out a producer, everything would die, but if i where to take out a tertiary population, the Secondary consumer would be massive, the the food supplies, would be shrinking of what the secondary consumer eats.

TROPHIC LEVELS AND ENERGY PYRAMIDS

BOTTOM------PRODUCER- 100%

SECOND LEVEL FROM BOTTOM------PRIMARY CONSUMER- 10%

THIRD LEVEL FROM BOTTOM-----SECONDARY CONSUMER-1%

TOP----TERITIARY CONSUMER- 0.1%

A Pyramid , shows how the percentage of energy gets smaller and smaller as it goes up the food web.

Producers are the largest level because they get the most energy, and the Top preditors, get less energy.

PHOTOSYNTHESIS

PHOTOSYNTHESIS   FORMULA =      6cO2+h2o------->c6 h12 o6+o2

When photosynthesis occurs, water, sunlight,and carbon dioxide, are needed, for photosynthesis to occur. The plant gets energy from the sunlight and water, and takes in carbon dioxide, and releases its waste =o2.{oxygen}

Photosynthesis takes place in the chloroplast, of the plant.

Not algae, but it is showing the correct energy transfers of photosynthesis.

TROPISMS:are directional movement responses that occur in response to a directional stimulus.

THIGMATROPISM- tropisms that moves in a way , if you touch them , or  attach to one item and grow up the item, like vines,  they could wrap themselves upon another thing. EXAMPLE IS- CORAL

PHOTOTROPISM- the tropism, that moves in the direction of light as radiant energy, photosynthasis. EXAMPLE IS- ALGAE

With out the tropisms, the animals in the coral reef, could not have a home such as coral or have food such as algae.

THE ROLE OF DECOMPOSERS

With out decomposers, all left over mater and waste, would build up and take over the beautiful natural habitat.

In my ecosystem you could find snails, fan worms, and sea cucombers and even more, witch are all decomposers!

ADAPTATIONS

Adaptations, help the organism survive, like gills to breathe, in their habitat, and enviroment.

If an organism got put in this new environment, they would die.The organism would not be able to breathe, eat or have a safe shelter!

NATURAL SELECTION: the process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring.

In my ecosystem, with out natural selection, my environment, would have very few species, if they were not adapted to the coral reef.

  With the Clown Fish in my ecosystem, have adapted to the coral reef by using the aninome, as their shelter and home. With no shelter of their eggs, or shelter for themselves, the population was low.Using the surroundings, they adapted the the aninome as their safe home, from predators.
