Coco Chanel was a well known french fashion designer. She was born Gabrielle Chanel and was given the nick name "Coco" while performing as a singer in her early years before fashion. Her mother died when she was of young age and her father abandoned her and her siblings. In an orphanage she learned how to sew. She opened her first shop in 1910 selling hats by the help of her spouses Etienne and Arthur. She lived in the hotel Ritz for over 30 years until she died. She later added stores in other cities and started making clothes. She was known for her trademark suits and little black dresses. In 1920's she launched her well known perfume Chanel No. 5.

She was born in Saumur, France and died in Paris France. Her family members include Jeanne Devolle (Mother), Albert Chanel (Father), Jullia Chanel (Sister), Antoniette Chanel (Sister), Lucien Chanel (Brother), Alphonse Chanel (Brother). She was educated at orphanage convent by nuns after the death of her mother. She was well known fashion designer and founder of Chanel. She never married nor had any children. She dated a wealthy Duke of Westminister, Nazi officer Hans Gunther Von Dicklage. Coco was a non-practicing Catholic.
