Nuclear medicine is a branch of medicalimaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of or treat a variety of diseases, including many types of cancers, heart disease, gastrointestinal, endocrine, neurological disorders and other abnormalities within the body.

What are common uses of Nuclear Medicine?

Heart

-It analyzes heart blood flow and its function. Evaluates damage in the heart caused by heart attacks.

Lungs

- Detects lung problems. Scans lungs for any respiratory concerns. Detects lung transplant rejection.

Bones

-Detects bones for any fractures or infections. Evaluates bone tumors. Detects painful prosthetic joints.

Brain

-Investigates abnormalities in the brain, like seizures  and memory loss also abnormalities in a chemical in the brain.
