Primoz Bizjak- Critique
This photograph by Primoz Bizjak shows an open ocean, and clear sky with a little patch of trees and land in the middle of all of it. There are giant machines surrounding what is left of the land. My first thought about this photograph was, the photographer was a nature-freak or was concerned about the environment for some reason or another. After reading his statement however, I discovered that one of his main focuses in his work is how the places that once meant so much lose their original function and society takes a claim on them. Now that I understand his purpose, I have a real appreciation for his work. We see these things around us all the time- parks being turned into shopping malls, and forests being torn down for parking lots. Bizjak brings this realization to life, through his photograph. I can feel a real connection to his work.
