Power Shift

  • 1.)  The groups that were involved were the Army/Wealthy, the Guerillas, the Peasants, the Government, and the US. The group that had the most power in the beginning was the Army/Wealthy because they had the most MSU’s. As the game continued, at one point, the Guerillas had the most power. But in the end it was the US whom had the most power, and had stopped the civil conflict in the country of Guatemala.
  • 2.)  The balance of power had shifted from the Army/Wealthy to the Guerillas to the US. How the power was shifted was by the groups making (and/or breaking) treaties/alliances with other groups and either gaining MSU’s or losing them. Another way the power had shifted was by the Army/Wealthy and the Guerillas attacking each other and taking or losing MSU’s. The reason why the groups were making treaties and fighting each other was because every group wanted more power than the other one.
  • 3.)  Cooperation and conflict could be seen throughout the game by the treaties that were made throughout the groups, the military actions by the Army/Wealthy and The Guerillas and some treaties were broken. An example of the military actions, in the beginning of each month the two groups would have the opportunity to attack each other.
  • 4.)  The role the US had in the simulation was taking part in treaties, and they stopped the civil conflict in the country of Guatemala.
  • 5.)  When there is a power shift, the power goes from one group to another one. The effects could be either positive or negative, if the power were to shift to the Army/Wealthy and the Guerillas the effect would be negative but if the power were to shift to the US or the Peasants the effect could be positive. If the power shifted to the Army/Wealthy and the Guerillas the effect would be negative because the two groups are the main reason of the civil war and would keep of attacking each other until one group fell. If the power shifted to the US or the Peasants, the Peasants are much less corrupted than the Army/Wealthy and the Guerillas and would do what was best for themselves.

    • 1.)  A relationship that I have, in my life, is with my older sister. Most of our relationship has conflict when video games are involved. She wouldn’t get off the video game when it was my turn. I would get our mom who would say 5 more minutes, and 5 minutes turned into 60. Be the end of the day, I would feel like a peasant and she would be like one of the army/wealthy people. Another relationship that I have in my life is with my mother. Our relationship has a lot of cooperation. An example is, if I ask if my friends could come over, I just have to finish my chores and then they could come over.
