interior plains

The Interior Plains is a large region. It is fairly flat, with low hills. The Interior Plains has areas of grassland, wooded parkland, and large northern forests.

The Interior Plains has long, cold winters and short, hot summers. It can get as low as -30 degrees celcius in the winter, and can get up to above 30 degrees Celsius in the summer. The Interior plains get less precipitation than most other regions in Canada. The average precipitation is between 30 cm and 50 cm. The driest areas in the south west, get an average of 271 days a year with no precipitation.

The Interior Plains are located between the Western Cordillera and the Canadian Shield.The interior plains has flat plains, with gently rolling hills, plateaus,lowlands and foothills. generally the interior plains is just flat land.

most of the interior plains is prairie land, consisting plants and vegetation like grasses, trees like fir, pine and spruce. Animals such as antelope, deer, elk and wolves feed on the available vegetation.

grass lands are found in the southern part of the interior plains. The sedimentary materials there provide fertile soils for the prairie farms.weathering and erosion have cut deeply into the soft rock in parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan

canadas climate in the praries and the interior plains are hot summers and cold winters . due to this fact activities such as biking, canoeing/kayaking , cross country,, swimming, , hunting, soccer, jogging, fishing and hiking can be done in the summer time and hockey.skiing. skating and staying at resorts can all be done in the winter time. this video has some perfect examples of recreational things to do in the summer in whistler B.C ( which is in the interior plains)
