Museum Exhibit: Homo Sapiens Sapiens or the Doubly Wise Man
By: Jordyn Milou
The Homo Sapiens Sapiens was nicknamed the Doubly Wise Man. They were discovered by Maria and her father. They had very large brains and were really smart. They were most like us humans today. They have high, rounded skulls that are helpful at some points. It would be helpful to have a high, rounded skull in battle. The Doubly Wise Man has small teeth and has lots of slender bones.
The Doubly Wise Man originally lived in Africa, but soon moved all over the place except for Antarctica. The Doubly Wise Man moved everywhere like an early explorer. Their ability to walk on two feet and travel long distances helped them travel about everywhere.
This is a timeline of all of the hominids. As you can see Homo Sapiens Sapiens which is the actual name of the Doubly Wise Man is the closest hominid until today. That's about how many years ago they lived. They were very capable of doing many things. They could make better tools, shelter, and clothing which is three very important resources. Being able to make tools is important because if you can't make tools that useful how are you able to hunt animals to eat? An example of the tools the Doubly Wise Man used is spears. As you know now days we also do use spears as well, so I'll say they were very pretty efficient at making tools. They also were the very first hominid group to use bow and arrows which is pretty amazing. They used shelter from animal skin and the clothing they used was also made from the animal skin, so without hunting the Doubly Wise Man would NOT be in good shape! The Doubly Wise Man was such an amazing hunter because they could hunt from a farther distance which is very useful and helps the capablity of getting hurt.
The Doubly Wise Man expressed themselves in cave paintings. They also made cave paintings to record what they have left behind. They think of cave paintings as a very valuable treasure and I think that we should as well. It is also there to teach kids about them or maybe just to show a way that hominids are real. Lastly, cave paintings are for religion and to really truly get out their feelings in a unique way. Some people may think of cave paintings as a puzzle of drawings that you have to figure out, but others think of it as a relaxing and enjoying place to be. I think cave paintings are interesting and really amazing of how they were made.
The Doubly Wise Man was a very advanced hominid. They used antler, thin blades with bones, and stone to make lots of different kinds of tools. As you can see these are all resources that are used usefully. They made tools for all different reasons. They had needles for sewing to make clothes and made shelters out of stone or earth.
There is not much of a reason of why the Doubly Wise Man disappeared or how. Lets just say it may remain a mystery! When I try to find information on the Doubly Wise Man and their disappearance all that comes up is the Wise Man which is another hominid. I think this is very interesting because what if they never really found out what happened to the Doubly Wise Man. Maybe one day someone will find out and it may be you sitting in a school chair today, but then discovering an unknown mystery!
