My group and I believe that the most important paragraph in chapter two is on page 34, paragraph 3. In this paragraph, Mrs. Lainer begins to explain the burnings. "'... But these men dragged him and Beacon both outa the house, and when old man Berry tried to stop it, they lit him afire with them boys." This, in our opinion, is important to the setting and development of the situation. It shows us what terrible things were happening in this time and setting. It's important for readers to understand and read this section carefully, so they know what happens, and what might happen in the future.
