8MEH.2.2 The Decision-Making Model
Step 1: State the Situation
Marie is stuck in between going to basketball camp or going to a special science school. Her worse subject is science and she has to pass all her class to be on the team in highschool.
Step 2: List the Options
She doesn't know rather to go to special science school or go to a basketball camp
Step 3: Weigh the Possible Outcomes
If she goes to the special science class she will have better grades. If she goes to the basketball camp she will be better in basketball
Step 4: Consider Values
Both of the choices is right. But I think going to the special science camp is best because your grades always come 1st. Also to be on the basketball team in high school, you have to pass all your classes. So going to the special science camp will make her pass science therefore she will be able to be on the basketball team in highschool. But if she goes to the basketball camp she won't get her grade up in Science. She will get better at basketball but she won't be able to be on the high school basketball team because she will be failing Science.
Step 5: Make A Decision and act it.
Marie will go to the special science school so she can be on the high school basketball team
Step 6: Evaluate the Decision
Going to the special science school was a great outcome. She has excelled in science and now is eligible to be on the high school basketball team. Also she is getting better in basketball because of the practices and games.
Step 1: State The Situation
I have been invited to a sleep over for a birthday party on Friday night by a not so popular person. Also I've been invited to a boy girl party on the exact same night by a person I've been dying to be friends with. Their very popular and I just want to really fit in.
Step 2: List The Options
I can either go the sleep over by the not so popular person, or go to the boy girl party that everybody is going to be at Friday night.
Step 3: Weigh The Possible Outcomes
If I go to the sleep over they will feel happy that I came but I might not be popular like I will if I go to the boy girl party. If I got to the boy girl party then the other person thats hosting the sleep over might get their feelings hurt because I didn't come when I said I was.
Step 4: Consider Values
Going to the sleep over for their birthday will be the best thing to do. Not going when I said I was going will hurt their feelings and is a bad choice.
Step 5: Make A Decision And Act It
I decided I will go to the sleep over. That would be the best choice. I had already said I was going so I should. I don't want to hurt their feelings so I'll go.
Step 6: Evaluate The Decision
Going to the sleep over was fun. But I still wanted to go to the boy girl party. Everybody said that it was really great. But thats ok, I can always go to another one, or even have one of my own. I don't HAVE to be popular. I'm satisfied with the GREAT friends I have now
