This disasters really widened our eyes on problems we were blinded to before. For example the manufacturing process for titanium was changed in order to eliminate the type of gaseous anomaly that served as the starting point for the crack. Hydraulic systems were now forced to have "shut off" valves to limit the amount of fluid that can drain from a breach, if one occurs. Also the way maintenance checks the plane for any problems was changed. More computerized technology was integrated to lower the risk of human error.
