ADULT/ CHILD CPR

1. Check the Scene - make sure it is safe for you to help.
2. Check the Victim - tap and shout to get response.
3. Call for Help - call 9-1-1, or tell someone to call.
4. Compression - 30 chest compressions. Go in only 1/3 in on child

5. Airway - tilt head back, lift chin up to open airway.

6. Breathing - 2 breaths 1 second each

7. Repeat- repeat steps 4-6

Infant CPR

1. Check the Scene - make sure it is safe for you to help.
2. Check the Victim - tap and shout to get response.

3. Call 9-1-1 for any unconscious victim, including an infant that is breathing.

4. Compression - compress the chest 30 times.
Place two finger tips of one hand in the center of the chest.
5. Airway - tilt head back, lift chin up to open airway.
6. Breathing - Take a normal breath, cover victim's mouth and nose with your mouth, and give a breath until the chest rises.
7. Continue CPR

Adult/Child Conscious choking

1. Check the Scene - make sure it is safe for you to help the choking victim.

2. Check the Victim - Ask if they are choking. If they can not cough, speak, or breathe, then they need help.

3. Call for Help - Tell someone to call 9-1-1.

4. Give abdominal thrusts

5. Check for Foreign object

6. Continue abdominal thrusts

Infant conscious choking

1. Support the infant’s face and place body on your forearm.

2. Keep the infants head lower than the feet.

3. Administer 5 back blows between the shoulder blades with the palm of your hand.

4. Support the infant’s head. Turn the baby over onto your other forearm. Give 5 chest thrusts.

5. Continue back blows and chest thrusts until object comes out or infant becomes unconscious.

Infant/Adult/Child unconscious choking

1. Give 30 chest compression

2. Open the airway and check the mouth for a foreign body. If something is seen sweep it out with a finger. Use the pinky finger for an infant

3. Attempt rescue breaths. If breaths do not make the chest rise, reposition head

4. If victim is still unconscious and not breathing normally, continue CPR cycles of 30 compressions to 2 breaths.

AED

  • 1. Turn the machine on
  • 2. Bare the chest. Dry it off if it is wet. If there is excessive hair you may need to shave it off.
  • 3. Place one pad on the patients upper right chest above the nipple. Place the other pad on the patients lower left ribs below the armpit.
  • 4. Stand Clear. Do not touch the patient while the AED analyzes
  • 5. If the AED advises a shock yell clear and press the button if it doesn't continue CPR
  • 6. As soon as the shock is advised continue CPR
  • Bleeding

  • 1. Check person
  • 2. Have someone call 911
  • 3. Use gauze of other barrier to apply direct pressure
  • 4. Elevate if not fractured
  • 5. Put more barrier
  • 6. Recheck
