What neurological changes happen to the teenage brain?
During the neurological changes in the brain, the brain processes faster and grows in size. As you age, your brain and nervous system go through natural changes. Your brain and spinal cord lose nerve cells and weight (atrophy). Nerve cells may begin to pass messages more slowly than in the past. Waste products can collect in the brain tissue as nerve cells break down.
What causes these changes?
The answer is simple. As you grow up, new hormones are being developed and are changing almost everything in your body, as well as your brain.

Your brain is divided into 2 hemispheres. Usually, when we are young, we use one side of our hemisphere for a specific task. However, as we age, the brain develops and we start to use both hemispheres without knowing which is known as Bilateralization. During Bilateralization, both hemispheres sync up and they start working together. Also, as we age, we begin to understand problems quicker then before.
Does the brain change shape?
Believe or not, the brain can change shape! But that all depends on the activities you do in life. If your active in life, that will cause the brain to create new neuron cells which would change the shape of your brain. However, if you aren't as active in life, that could cause the death and destruction of your neuron cells and your brain. If you continue to be inactive or lazy further more, that will soon destroy all the important neuron cells that make you smart one way or another.
Overall, the teenage brain is unique as there are pros and cons to the brain when growing up. But most of them depend on what you do.
