All incoming 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade students are required to read their grade level Summer Reading title.  Students must also submit completed book activities at the start of the new 2015-16 school year.  Below are some links to provide students with additional information about the middle school reading selections.

Barnes & Noble Bookstores Summer Reading Program
(All De Leon Students encouraged to participate)

Students read a minimum of 8 books this summer (at your reading level) and complete the reading log below.  Return your reading log to your local Barnes & Noble Store at Northcross Shopping Center 4005 N. 10th Street McAllen, TX. by September 7, 2015 OR return your reading log to the librarian at De Leon MS.  All students that complete their reading logs receive a free book from Barnes & Noble!  So start your summer reading adventure today!

Teen Summer Reading Program 2015

Ages: 10-18
Grade: Entering 6th-12th
Registration: May 1st - June 29
Reporting: June 1 - July 25
Finale Party: August 2

  • Read or listen to books, enter book titles on your online reading log either at home or with the help of your librarian. Upon completion of the following requirements, you'll be invited to celebrate with a Teens Only swim at the McAllen Municipal Pool (Prizes will be raffled).
  • 50 hours
  • Attend 6 programs
  • Complete 3 5-10 sentence book reviews.
  • Every 10 hours over the final goal will get you an additional entry for the raffle. Limit of 5 entries per registrant.
  • Every 3 programs over your final goal will get you additional entry for the raffle. Limit of 3 entries per registrant.
