Chaplin was born in London, England, in the year 1889 in mid April. His mother was an actress and a singer who fell deathly ill before he was even ten. His father had also died, which left him and his sister to fend for themselves at such young ages. Chaplins first show performance was at age twelve, he played “Billy” the paperboy. His contract expired from his current employer in 1917, which allowed him to become independent and become his own producer.
