Imagery in White Fang

Chapter 10: The Bondage   "Whenever he ventured away from his mother, the bully was sure to appear, trailing at his heels, snarling at him, picking upon him, and watchful of an opportunity, when no man-animal was near, to spring upon him and force a fight."

Chapter 7: The Wall of the World   "He held on to the wing and growled between his tight- clenched teeth. The ptarmigan dragged him out of the bush. When she turned and tried to drag him back into the bush's shelter, he pulled her away from it and on into the open."

Chapter 7: The Wall of the World  "The next moment the flash of yellow reappeared before his eyes. He heard again the intimidating cry, and at the same instant recieved a severe blow on the side of the neck and felt the sharp teeth of the mother weasel cut into his flesh.

Chapter 8: The Law of Meat  "The cub saw little of the battle. There was a tremenedous snarling and spitting and screeching. The two animals threshed about, the lynx ripping and tearing with her claws and using her teeth as well, while the she-wolf used her teeth alone."

Chapter 14: The Famine  "He would lie concealed for hours, following every moment of a cautious tree squirrel, waiting, with a patience as huge as the hunger he suffered from, until the squirrel ventured out upon the ground. He waited until he was sure of striking before the squirrel could gain a tree refuge. Then, and not until then, would he flash from his hiding place, a grey projectile, incredibly swift, never failing its mark- the fleeing squirrel that fled not fast enough.

'hiding place, projectile, incredibly swift, never failing its mark- the fleeing squirrel that fled not fast enough" was an amazing way to show what was happening I got a picture in my head of the squirrel dashing away as wolves chased him. Great job!!😃

Hannah, i liked your chapter 14 one "hiding place, a grey projectile, incredibly swift, never failing its mark- the fleeing squirrel that fled not fast enough" really showed a picture. The way you picked yours was great, I loved all of them.

I really enjoyed your examples of imagery above due to their insight into the fighting world that is given to the reader, and the struggle of competition that White Fang encounters throughout his life journey.

Hannah, I loved your examples of imagery because they showed White Fang in his vulnerable state of being young and not knowing much of the world. this was shown particularly well in the quote "The next moment the flash of yellow reappeared" because everything was new and exciting to him. Yet at the same time, White Fang was becoming smarter and stronger every day. This was shown in the part of the passage "growled between his tight- clenched teeth." Also, you have great pictures that show all of the emotions in these few sections. Great Job
