Back to the Past: By Jordan Reed

It was that day, the day that I was sucked in by a time machine. I warped to an unknown street in what is now Portland, Oregon. I walked around and I was amazed about how everything looked. Evey woman was wearing short clothing, and every man was wearing a suit. The highways were filled with Model Ts and every corner, there was a road of some sort. I finally got to a diner and I ordered a grilled cheese. The kind waitress said "Are you new in town?" I said "yes, how do you know?" The waitress said "You just have that look to you, like the look that you are from some sawmill." I read the waitress' name tag and it read "Julie."

That is when I got the idea to open up my own restaurant, to make some money. I opened up a malt shop, not far from the diner. I had my first customer the day it opened up. That customer was Julie the waitress. I said "Hey welcome to my malt shop, want to order something?" Julie said "yes, I would like a chocolate malt." I handed the kind lady a malt and she left. I looked at the door, and there is a man with a tommy gun in his hands. He kicks open the door and says "put all the money in the bag, Alonzo the famed robber is here."Alright, I'll do it, just don't kill me." Alonzo left with the money and I am here just broke now. I walked out of the shop because my shift was over, but then a person came up to me and asked if I was ok. I said yes, but the strange man didn't believe me. He said "One in three people die when Alonzo robs them." All I said was "I guess I am just lucky."

I was at the home I just bought in Portland when the radio said, "scientists are testing a time machine in their facility in Medford, If anybody wants to try it." I rushed over and knocked on the door. The lab tester took me to the machine. He said to step into the pod. He flipped the switch and bam, I was back to the day of April 2nd, 2015. I learned a lot from the 20s, but I think it is time to stay in my very own time.
