Work Sited

The oldest man we know.

Ötzi is a well preserved natural mummy of a man who lived around 3,300 BCE. The mummy was found in September 1991 high in the Ötztal Alps (hence the nick name "Ötzi"), near the Similaun mountain and Hauslabjoch on the border between Austria and Italy. Researchers and Anthropologist have given Ötzi CT scans, snaked equipment through his but to find out what he last ate, and many more. A husband and wife found him and thought it was a recent death, they called the police they got the body out and knew that it was not a recent death. They gave the body to local scientist and they found out the body was 5,300 years  old. When studying a CT scan a radiologist discovered a arrowhead beneath his left shoulder blade. Quickly the scientist drove Ötzi in an ambulance to the nearest hospital and gave him a full body CT scan. He had abdominal wounds, busted head, and his right palm was cut to the bone. They then snaked equipment through his butt to find what was in his digestive track. They then found different types of pollen from high in the mountain then on top of that lower elevation pollen, then again over that was higher elevation pollen. They then figured out that he was high in the mountain in the summer then went back down to his village and something bad happen to the point where he was chased 12 miles back up the mountain. That is when he was shot with the arrow. After he was shot the culprit came over ripped the end of the arrow out but the arrow head stayed which lead to Ötzi bleeding out within 20 seconds. After that the man bashed Ötzi's head in with a rock. The scientists then found Ötzi's stomach against his ribs, and in thee stomach was one and a half pounds of cooked goat meat and bread. That then meant that he had cooked his own last meal not long before he died. Time is working against historians to find out everything about Ötzi's life because he can't just stay unthawed or he will start to deteriorate.
