Elizabethan Language

Shakesperian language from back in the day

Back then, with the old Modern-English, there were only 24 letters in the alphabet instead of 26

many of the words used the in the old modern language have been extinct and no longer used in modern English as of today

The letter u was used in the middle of a word and v was used in the beginning of a word

Shakespeare added over 2000 words to human vocabulary. A few of these are accused, assassinate, compromise, and gossip, just to name a few

There were no Elizabethan dictionaries back then so words were spelled in millions of different ways. For example they would spell Shakespeare's name as Shaxxpeare, Chaspeare, Shakeshafte etc.

the average amount of words used in a regular conversation back then was around 500
