Biography of Red Grange
Herald was born January 13, 1903, in Forksville, Pennsylvania. He was a three time All-American in the years of 1923-1925. He earned the nickname "Galloping Ghost" as a whirling dervish runner at Illinois. He was the running back for the Illinois, then on Thanksgiving day in 1925 he was a member of the National Football League team, the Chicago Bears. He was with the Bears in 1925,1929-1934. The New York Yankees (AFL) had him in 1926. And the New York Yankees (NFL) in 1927. In 1928 he missed the whole season due to injury but on his return in 1929 he returned to his first team the Chicago Bears.
