The city of lights
Paris is the capital and most populous city of France. Situated on the Seine River, in the north of the country. The city of Paris has a population of 2,3 million people but its metropolitan area is one of the largest population centres in Europe , with 12,3 million inhabitants. Paris was the 3rd most visited city in the world in 2013-2014 with almost 16 million overnight visitors.
City was founded in the 3rd century BC by a Celtic people called the ''Parisii'' who gave the city its name. By the 12th century, Paris was the largest city in the western world, a prosperous trading centre and one of the most influential cities of learning in Europe. At the end of the 18th century Paris was known as an important centre of commerce, fashion, science, and art. Paris was the host of 2 summer Olympics in 1900 and 1924.
In my opinion, Paris is the one of the most attractive cities in Europe. In this city everyone can feel like home. For art lovers there's a lot of museums to enjoy. For example, one of the worlds most famous museums - Louvre. For people who love to taste foods from all over the world Paris is the best place to visit. Hundreds of high quality restaurants are ready to serve you the meal of your lifetime. From the most typical french croissants and snails to exotic dishes and drinks. Paris is the right place for family adventures as well. The best place for kids and actually for people of all ages is Disneyland. Great place to meet all of your favorite Disney characters and enjoy all kinds of roller coasters. Although Paris has all kinds of tourist attractions, the most famous place in Paris is the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is a "must see" for any visitor - well it's actually quite difficult not to see it. It's 320m tall and it is 125 years old. Interesting fact about the Eiffel Tower is that it's 200'ooo'oooth visitor visited it in 2002.
Perhaps my favourite spot in Paris would be the Louvre museum. As a museum and history lover that would be a great place to visit just like Carnavalet Museum of Paris history and La Conciergerie which was originally built as a medieval palace and is the oldest remaining part of the first royal palace in Paris, but during the French Revolution on 18th century it was used as a prison.
In short, Paris is a magnificent city to visit. A great city for people of all ages with historical landmarks, famous tourist attractions and all kinds of places to relax end enjoy the rythm of this beautiful and elegant central Europe city.
