Mobl21 is a mobile learning application that permits teachers to develop content so that students can have access to it from their mobile devices, at any time and place, allowing learners to study at their own pace. Content can be in the form of:

  • lessons
  • study guides
  • quizzes
  • flashcards

How can it be used in the classroom?

This mLearning option can be especially useful in the K-12 classrooms because it can be applied in a variety of ways. One such way could be to create quizzes based on class content and then have students take the quiz within the designated deadline. Due to the fact that this app allows students to access course content at any time, place and pace, it would be particularly suitable for students in the secondary classroom as they would be likely to own their own mobile devices.

In the classroom, screen casts can be used to present information, concepts and content in engaging ways to help learners better understand course material. The teacher is able to record their voice while simultaneously using visuals, audio and video content in these screen casts. Screenr can also be a great way to incorporate Universal Design for Learning in the classroom!

What is it?

Drawp for School is an application specifically designed for the iPad, however it can be accessed through the Cloud on Google Drive. It affords students the opportunity to share their work. This app is a tool which facilitates creativity and prevents "technical difficulties" from getting in the way of learning. Drawp for Schools gives learners the ability to:

  • manage classes
  • access their work any time, any place and at any pace
  • have a personalized learning experience
  • use kid-friendly software
  • work collaboratively
  • easy to follow instructions
  • share work with the teacher, classmates, family, etc.

How can it be used in the classroom?

This tool can be used for a variety of purposes, as stated above, and appears to be best suited for elementary students. One such way that this app could be used in the classroom would be to capture an image of the student's artwork, project, etc. and then share it with family members via the Cloud/Google Drive. A nice thing about this application is that email addresses are not required for sharing, as many children under the age of thirteen do not yet have one.
