The Island of Atlantis, its people, and its memory were swallowed by the sea.

Where it took place?

Atlantis was somewhere outside the pillars of hercules.

When did it take place?

350 - 400 years before Christ.

Why is it mysterious?

Because it is a lost city they said it existed 11,000 years ago.

1.) Scientists are of the opinion that if city of Atlantis existed, it would be bigger than today's Libya and Asia combined.

2.) Legend says that Atlantis City  was built by Poseidon, god of sea when he fell in love with a mortal woman Cleito.

3.) The City of Atlantis made on top of hill is supposed to be surrounded by rings of water and land.

4.) The fable tells that Cleito had five pairs of twin sons with Poseidon, the eldest of which was named Atlas.

5.) What's amazing about the City under the sea is its rich wealth.

6.) Edgar Cayce, a historian studied the tale of the lost city of Atlantis in detail for a long time.

7.) Average lifespan of these people is believed to have been 800 years, making them really robust and strong prototype of existent human race then.

The Atlantis existed over 11,000 years ago in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. The people that lived on the land was wealthy because of the natural resources found throughout the island. Atlantis was the domain of Poseidon, god of the sea. Poseidon fell in love with a mortal woman, Cleito created a dwelling at the top of a hill near the middle of the Island surrounded with rings of water and land. Cleito gave birth to five sets of twin boys who became the first rulers of Atlantis. Beyond the city lay a fertile plain 330 miles (530 km) long and 110 miles (190 km) wide surrounded by another canal used to collect water.  Surrounding the plain to the North were mountains which soared to the skies. Villages, lakes, rivers and meadows dotted the mountains. In one surge it was gone. The people and its memory were swallowed by the sea.
