Aloof - Not friendly or forthcoming; cool and distant
Bureau - A chest of drawers
Compelled - Forced or obliged to do something
Coy - Making a pretense of shyness or modesty that is intended to be alluring
Disdainful - Showing contempt or lack of respect
Dogged - Having or showing tenacity and grim persistence
Drab - An object lacking brightness or interest; drearily dull
Holler - Give a loud shout or cry
Inverted - Put upside down or in the opposite position, order, or arrangement
Oppressed - Subject to harsh treatment
Prattle - Talk at length in a foolish or inconsequential way
Serene - Calm, peaceful, and untroubled; tranquil
Vain - Producing no result; useless
Wiles - Another way of saying "While Away"
Yearn - Have an intense feeling of longing for something
