Mae Jemison

Mae Jemison was born on October 17 ,1956 in decatur, Alabama but her real name is Mae Carol Jemison. On june 4, 1987 she became the first african american women to be admitted in to the astronaut training program. On september 12 ,1992 she finally flew in to space with six other astronauts aboard the Endeavour on mission STS47, becoming the first african american women in space. In recognition of her accomplishments, Jemison has received several awards honorary doctorates. Mae Jemison inspired many people when she went into space. Mae Jemison retired and became a teacher in 1993. Mae Jimeson was 56 yeas old many people don't know when she died, she was a extraordinary astronaut who made accomplishments in her life, she inspired a lot of people when she went into space.
