• A MSP is  a member of the Scottish Parliament. Each MSP represents people from a certain area of the country in the Scottish Parliament.
  • A voting system is a method used by voters to make a decision between different options which is in an election or a referendum such as the Scottish Independence referendum. This enforces rules to make sure valid voting takes part and the way how votes are counted and aggregated to have a final result.
  • A constitution is a fundamental law that establishes the basic principles the government will rule the country by. There is a constitution in the UK.
  • The devolved powers of the Scottish Parliament are  agriculture,education, environment, Health and social services,housing,law and order, sport and the arts, tourism and economic development many aspects of transport. An example is the Scottish Parliament would make decisions about the Rail travel such as introducing the new borders railway.
  • A referendum is general vote by the electorate on a single question which has been referred to them for a direct decision such as should Scotland become independent?The Scottish independence referendum was where a vote  took place on 18 September 2014 to decide while the people would answer with Yes or No to Should Scotland be an independent country which meant leaving the UK? The West Lothian question is should Scottish MPS be able to vote on matters that affect only England and Wales when English MPS cannot vote on matters devolved to Scotland. This questions was posed by West Lothian MP Tam Dalyell.
  • The political party which rules the UK is the conservatives. The Prime Minister is David Cameron who is the leader of the conservative party.
  • The local MSP for this area is Stewart Stevenson of the SNP party.
  • They use the Additional Member System for voting candiates into the Scottish Parliament. Where the voters has to make two decision with one vote is when you choose between candidates standing in their constituency to elect a constituency MSP. The second vote is to choose a political party  in your constituency seats. Also regional MSPs are allocated seats using a formula which takes into account the number of constituency seats that an individual or party has already won in that certain region as well as the number of regional votes they received. Therefore that person or party has already won a seat in that region along with the number of regional votes as well.  
  • The council for Aberdeenshire is providing public services is a prime function of local government. Also no other public body provides the range of services which a local Council does. They also provide services to meet community needs and aims requires the development of policy about the nature of services to be provided and the planning of the delivery and resourcing of those services.
  • A Councillor makes policies,form and monitor budgets.  They also make executive decisions, represents the people.
