The collage above is made of Da Vinci's paintings, specifically of women. This is ironic because it is rumored that he was gay, although there is very little documentation on his personal life. Da Vinci, an Italian Renaissance man born out of wedlock to a notary, was many things: painter, sculptor, mathematician, anatomist, and inventor. Out of all of these Leonardo is most known for his paintings. He took on many student apprentices and because of this his style spread and influenced much of the painting in that time. This collage depicts his image of women. He characterizes them very angelic, especially in his interpretation of the annunciation. In the center you can see his portrait of Mona Lisa, his most revered painting. In it you can see the influence of his math because he uses the golden ratio to align her features. Leonardo was also an anatomist and researched avidly about the human body. This had great influence over his paintings and how he depicted the body. Da Vinci also was influenced by religion. We can see this in the annunciation at the top. A majority of his paintings of women were the virgin Mary holding her child, another instance of religions influence. This collage hopefully conveys the beauty of Da Vinci's paintings and his love of the human form.

This is very interesting. The information causes me to look at his works with new perspective. Never before have I thought about mathematics while admiring the Mona Lisa. The paintings take on more meaning from knowing his background and life influences that are reflected in them. Thank you.

Although all the paintings are of women, they are not carbon copies of each other.

It is a great collage and so interesting to learn of his appreciation of women as depicted in your project. He was quite a genius and I am glad that he still had a religious connection in his paintings. Since the Mona Lisa is one of the most sought out paintings in the world, he is very deserving of your summary appraisal & collage!

Its interesting that he was not only an amazing painter but religious, a mathematician and so much more. And its cool to see how all of these things worked together in his life work to make something that has been studied for centuries
