The collage above is made of Da Vinci's paintings, specifically of women. This is ironic because it is rumored that he was gay, although there is very little documentation on his personal life. Da Vinci, an Italian Renaissance man born out of wedlock to a notary, was many things: painter, sculptor, mathematician, anatomist, and inventor. Out of all of these Leonardo is most known for his paintings. He took on many student apprentices and because of this his style spread and influenced much of the painting in that time. This collage depicts his image of women. He characterizes them very angelic, especially in his interpretation of the annunciation. In the center you can see his portrait of Mona Lisa, his most revered painting. In it you can see the influence of his math because he uses the golden ratio to align her features. Leonardo was also an anatomist and researched avidly about the human body. This had great influence over his paintings and how he depicted the body. Da Vinci also was influenced by religion. We can see this in the annunciation at the top. A majority of his paintings of women were the virgin Mary holding her child, another instance of religions influence. This collage hopefully conveys the beauty of Da Vinci's paintings and his love of the human form.
