One of the leading deaths of teens across the nation is from suicide. The Centers of Disease control say that it is the third highest cause for people between the age of fifteen to twenty four and the fourth for kids aged ten to fourteen. The most common reason making people want to take their life is depression. Depression can be caused by a number of things, such as divorce of parents, violence at home, feeling worthless, rejection of friends or peers and the suicide or death of a loved one.
Teens who are suicidal are not likely to seek help. However, if people notice signs of depression they need to immediately help the person. You need to ask the person about how they are and if they've been having suicidal thoughts. Reassure them that they can get help and that it's not hopeless. Never judge them for feeling this way. Do not leave them alone.
