Michelin CrossClimate

The Michelin CrossClimate is a new all-season tyre that was just announced by the French tyre company Michelin.

Michelin says the tyre has a very short braking distance on a dry surface, and it has the best score for braking on a wet surface. But the most important feature of the CrossClimate is the fact that the tyre is designed for both summer weather and winter weather. While these all-season tyres already exsist, the new unique design offers better performance.

The CrossClimate is a very important revolution in the automotive world because Michelin wants to make all-season tyres the standard, and with the CrossClimate performance they have a good chance at doing so.
Right now more than half of the European motorist don’t switch to a winter tyres and use summer tyres all year round. With a tyre that’s designed for both summer and winter, safety on the roads will improved.

It sound interesting, but unfortunately I'm not yet convinced that they offer the best of both worlds. The older all season tyres aren't all that good. I never use winter tyres, so if it actually works, it would be perfect for people like me.

The short brake distances are a good improvement for the safety on the road. Even though we don’t have cold winters here in Belgium, I think it’s still possible to drive with summer tyres the whole year. Will Michelin still produce other tires or will they only concentrate on the CrossClimate tyres?
