Why Anne Frank Is Famous

Anne Frank is famous because after she died at a concentration camp in Germany her Diary was given to her father Otto Frank and he decided to publish it, as of today that diary has sold over 31 million copies.  Another reason why she is famous is because her diary was published into a book, very few diaries from that time were published.  Also just one last reason that she is famous is because her diary is surprisingly well written for a thirteen year old girl.

Summery Of Book

Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt Germany.  One of the things that put her apart from the other German families and Jews was that she and her family had a decent amount of money.  At a young age Hitler came to power and the kids at school often bullied her because she was “different” and the Nazi’s were the superior race.  Later when she went to work for her father people would protest by throwing rocks and other heavy objects at the Frank’s shop.  Soon after all the Jews were ordered to wear a yellow star on their jackets and or an arm band.  The franks soon realized that they had to go or they would be captured.  The family hid in the annex of the office building were Otto Frank, Anne’s father, worked.  They stayed in the annex for two years but were finally captured by the Germans when an anonymous caller sold out the Franks.  After they were captured they were sent to a concentration camp called Auschwitz In October of the same year that they were sent to Auschwitz Anne and her sister are sent to another concentration camp called Bergen-Belsen where Anne Frank died because of Typhoid fever.

Map Of Where Anne Frank Was Born

Primary Source

My primary source is Anne Frank’s Diary that she kept with her for about three years. In her diary it tells about her life before WWII and during WWII. Also in her diary she tells about what her and her family’s life was like during a time where they're race was despised. Just one of the many things that she writes about is when Hitler comes to power her family goes into hiding in the annex of the building where Otto Frank Anne’s father worked. This is just the start of a two year long diary about her and her family trying to stay out of reach of the Nazis.

Anne Frank wanted to be a journalist when she grew up this was one of the main reasons that she kept a diary. All throughout her life she wanted to be a journalist and one day her father Otto Frank gave her a diary that was pink and red. For the next two years she wrote in this diary and her father got her another one when she filled the first one up. This second diary is one that when it was returned to Otto after he was released from a concentration camp was published in to a book that we now find almost everywhere. It has been translated into thousands of languages and has sold millions of copies. Some successes that Anne Frank had were that she and her family went into hiding almost immediately after Hitler came to power and that gave her two years of “freedom”. Another success that you could say was a big one is that her diary has been one of the most read books ever made. One challenge that Anne faced was that after two years of hiding she and her family were captured by the Nazis. Just another challenge that she faced was that she never got to pursue her dream as a journalist.

  • Anne Frank’s father ,Otto Frank, served in the German military in WWI as a lieutenant status.
  • Anne Frank wanted to be a writer when she grew up.
  • the Franks lived in the Annex of Otto Frank's place of work for two years with his employees sending them food and water every day.

“I see the eight of us in the annex as if we were a patch of blue sky surrounded by menacing black clouds. The perfectly round spot on which we’re standing is still safe, but the clouds are moving in on us, and the ring between us and the approaching danger is being pulled tighter and tighter. We’re surrounded by darkness and danger, and in our desperate search for a way out we keep bumping into each other. We look at the fighting down below and the peace and beauty up above. In the meantime, we’ve been cut off by the dark mass of clouds, so that we can go neither up nor down. It looms before us like an impenetrable wall, “Oh, ring, ring, open wide and let us out!” -Anne Frank, from The Diary of a Young Girl: Monday evening, November 8, 1943.
