Rosa Parks

Rosa parks was born February 4,1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama.She died October 24,2005 in Detroit Michigan. Rosa was 92 when she died in her apartment. On December 1, 1955 she was arrested. She would not give her seat up to a white man. She was 42 years old when that happened. Rosa was the first women to ever lie in state at the U.S Capitol.12 years before she didn't give her seat up she stepped on the bus she resisted the rule in place for blacks to disembark and re-enter through the back door, she stood her ground. Rosa Parks' mother was a teacher.Her family valued education.Rosa got married at the age of 19 in 1932.Parks was a civil rights activist before her arrest.Parks was not sitting in a whites only section. She didn't refuse to leave her seat because her feet were tired.Rosa parks also boycotted the bus that told her to move. Rosa was arrested for violating the law for blacks to give up there seats to white people and she did not want to.Before parks got arrested 2 other women got arrested for the same thing so Rosa was not the only one that had done that but she was the 3 one to do so.The driver had got two policemen on the bus to get her to stand and they asked her if the bus driver had asked her to stand and she said yes and then they said why did you not stand and she said i feel like i should not have to stand up just for a white man.She was called the first lady of civil rights.Rosa also attended segregated schools when she went to school.At the same time, local civil rights activists initiated a boycott of the Montgomery bus system.Martin Luther King Jr.sparked by Rosa parks' action, the boycott lasted 381 days, into December 1956 when U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the segregation law was unconstitutional and the Montgomery buses were integrated.The Montgomery bus boycott was the beginning of the revolution era of non-violent mass protest in support of civil rights in the U.S.Rosa did not get up out of her seats after the driver had yelled at them many times she would not move and she had never broken a rule before and this was the first step of the revolution.Rosa Parks was a brave, nice, kind,Confident,smart person.She wanted to be know as the person who wanted freedom so other people could be free.On December 5,Rosa was found guilty of violating segregation laws, she was suspended sentence and fined $10 plus $4 in court cost. The boycott ended December 20, a day after the courts written order arrived in Montgomery. Rosa had to drop out of school to take care of her grandmother that was sick and she also was sick most of the time.Rosa was also known as The Woman Who Changed the Nation.On August 1994, Parks was attacked in her home by a young mad who wanted money from her.Rosa sat near the middle of the bus, just behind 10 seats of white's seats, soon the bus was full, then a white man got on the bus and there were no seats and they told Rosa to move and she would not move they called the cops and the cops asked her questions she answered them honestly.
