First School Languages Day
221 First School children and their teachers had a fantastic Brazil 2014 experience on Wednesday 25th June, lead by year 9 modern foreign language students. They flew by plane to Rio, did some samba dancing and then they learnt about countries, football vocabulary, the teams who are participating in the world cup and even some Portuguese. Thank you to all of the year 9 pupils who took part.
6th Form School Transport
Please can Year 11 students who currently use school transport and are planning to join our 6th Form in September apply for school transport via Staffordshire County Council's website.
Their current provision expires on 18th July and transport will only be considered upon receipt of the relevant application and contribution payment. Current Year 12s should also apply to continue their transport provision. Early application before 18th July is advised to ensure the best chance of transport being in place at the start of the Autumn Term. www.staffordshire.gov.uk
Reading Week Reminder
It is our annual reading week in the week commencing 30th June. We are more than happy for you to use e-readers, iPads etc for this but you must have the relevant book downloaded prior to the first session on Monday 30th.
Rotary Club District Final
This week a number of photography students were invited to attend the District Final of the Rotary Club competition, this was being held at Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College.
A number of students walked away with a prize including Ellie Koszak who won 2nd place for her colour image, ‘Journey.’
Harriet Cleare walked away with the top prize of the night, ‘First Place Portfolio'.

Year 9 Vaccinations
Letters have gone home regarding the vaccinations taking place on 11th July.
Please ensure that all consent forms are returned by 7th July at the latest

We have many year 9 students and some in year 10 hovering in the region of 75 credits and above - remember that you only have the next 8 school days to achieve as many credits as you can - we'd like as many students as possible to achieve 100 credits or more and be entered in to the draw to win a laptop!

Year 9 Citizenship Day
Year 9 experienced a varied and interesting Citizenship Day on Thursday with numerous talks from bodies including:
- Animal Aid
- Help for Heroes
- Stoke-on-Trent Foodbank
- Staffs Fire and Rescue Service
- Staffs Search and Rescue Team
- Douglas Macmillan Hospice

A new website has been launched by Staffordshire County Council and Barnardo's aimed at helping young people deal with difficult situations. You can chat online to trained professionals about your concerns and worries. There is also a wealth of information on this site to help you 'self help'.
