Medgar Evers was born July 2,1925 in Decatur Mississippi . He was best known for his role n the African American - civil rights activist . He was involved in effort to overturn segregation and racism in all of Mississippi. Medgar Evers was the first state field secretary of the NAACP in Mississippi . He also graduated from high school with a diploma even with a poor education. He was drafted into the army in 1943 and fought in world war 2. He also helped end segregation and racism in Mississippi. Medgar Evers was killed in 1963. The accused the killer to Byron De La Beckwith. He was trialed twice during the late 1960's and was convicted not guilty. But in 1994 he was trialed again and was put in jail for life. He died at the age of 80 years old.
