Geology of Region
The Western Cordillera consists of three distinct regions: Coastal Mountains, Interior Plateaus, and the Eastern Mountains.
The Eastern Mountains is broken down to the Rock and Columbia Mountains. The Rocky and the Columbia Mountains were formed mostly from sedimentary rock and were a result in faulting and folding. The Columbia Mountains also have metamorphic rocks under the surface.
The Interior Plateaus consists of igneous and sedimentary rocks (eroded sediments are compressed into a soft rock).
The Coastal Mountains consists of metamorphic ( this is where igneous and sedimentary rocks are placed under heat and pressure to change form) and sedimentary rocks.

The Western Cordillera is a wonderful place to see. The Western Cordillera is influenced by all climate factors. The Western Cordillera region is affected by ocean currents, in the Pacific Ocean which has warmer waters. Since the Western Cordillera is made up mostly of mountains, it would be affected by elevation. Since it is affected by elevation the air becomes thinner causing precipitation due to the decreasing hold of the moisture. The latitude of this region is high. It is much harder for the sun's energy to cover the whole region. This shows that the region would be colder. The Rocky Mountains acts like a wall or a barrier, forcing the wind to go up, and causing rain to fall this is called relief. The Western Cordillera is near water, the summer will be cooler, and in the winter the surrounding land will be warmer.
The climate of the Western Cordillera is maritime. I know this because there is over 1000mm of precipitation, and that there is more precipitation during the winter time than the summer.For example Whistler, BC which is in the Western Cordillera. It has a average annual temperature of 6,7 degrees Celsius, a temperature range of 19.3 degrees Celsius which is less than 25 degrees Celsius proving that it is a maritime climate.

The Western Cordillera is located on the west coast of Canada which includes British Columbia, Yukon, southwest Alberta, and parts of the Northwest Territories.
The Western Cordillera is a beautiful region of Canada. There are lots of mountains, which is fantastic for hiking and snowboarding. The Cordillera region comprises a series of mountain belts some 800 km wide along Canada’s Pacific coast. The great heights and angularity of the peaks, many of which rise to more than 3,000 meters, indicate that these are much younger mountains than the Appalachians. Signs of alpine glaciation are widely evident. In many places valley glaciers remain active, and snow capped peaks are frequently hidden in the clouds. Some of the mountain slopes are so precipitous that they are bare of trees. Viewed from above, the entire landscape seems to be an irregular sea of mountain ranges, trending in a north-south direction.

Vegetation and Soil
Vegetation of the Western Cordillera is very diverse. The lower parts of the mountains that make up the Western Cordillera are scattered with coniferous trees such as pine trees. However in the southern parts of the Western Cordillera hardly any trees are growing due to lack of precipitation.The types of soil that is include in the Western Cordillera are leached and permafrost. Leaching of the soil occurs in many parts of the Western Cordillera due to lots of precipitation in this region. Permafrost is present in the northern parts of the Western Cordillera such as the Yukon territories and northern British Columbia due to lots of precipitation and low temperatures.
The Western Cordillera is a great region for activities such as snowboarding, climbing, hiking, biking, and skiing. This would be great for opening a winter/summer resort for tourists, which would include the activities listed above. This is amazing, in a way the winters would have sports like snowboarding and skiing. The summers would have activities such as hiking, biking, and climbing. There would be 5-10 night stays for customers to stay and have a fun amazing experience. The Western Cordillera would be the number 1 region in Canada.

Risks of Natural Disaster
A risk of a natural disaster in the Western Cordillera can be a volcano eruption, Volcanoes may seem to be non-existent in Canada. However,there has been only one documented volcanic eruption in Canada in more-recent historical times, but there are many dormant volcanoes in western Canada, particularly in northwestern British Columbia. The entire western Cordillera (British Columbia and Yukon) remains geologically active. Therefore, the possibility of an eruption, even a large explosive one, is possible. Another natural disaster can be a snow avalanche and a earthquake if on the mountains, which makes perfect sense due to plate tectonics.

In conclusion the Western Cordillera is a great region. The winter/summer resort would be a amazing tourist attraction, in a way that the tourists would have a great time with the recreational activities and a 5-10 night stay. It would influence them on how good the Western Cordillera is a great region.
