Alesha Dixon leads the worst dressed
Alesha Dixon leads the worst dressed at MTV EMAs 2014 in an eccentric penguin-inspired shirt dress
The nation may have been fixated by penguins since the famous John Lewis Christmas advert.
But Alesha Dixon extended her appreciation for the arctic animal when she sported a shirt dress with the bejeweled bird in pride of place.
The mum-of-one was flaunting a kookier side to her flair for fashion on Sunday night, wearing the eclectic style to MTV's red carpeted EMA 2014 awards ceremony.
Alesha, who became a mum to Azura Sienna in October 2013, picked out a loose-fitting dress that swamped her enviable frame.
Alesha wore caged ankle boots to show off her long, slim pins and rolled her hair off her shoulders to make a statement with her red carpet ensemble.
Besides its bright colours, the dress featured a pattern that couldn't be missed as the singer appeared to pay homage to 'Monty The Penguin', who debuted on British television screens on Friday with the infamous John Lewis advert.
Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha complemented her get up with bright, purple lipstick that matched to a lilac eyeliner.
The brunette looked exquisite, highlighting her high cheek bones with a sublte bronze and pouting through the statement lip colour.
She kept her make-up in tact with a little help from her man Azuka Ononye, who held a straw to her lips to stop her smudging her colourful stain.
It was a rare public appearance for the cute duo, whose first child is now just over one year old.
Alesha wasn't the only one avoiding a wardrobe malfunction on Sunday night as Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison admitted that she was trying her hardest not to trip up on the red carpet.
Pattison said she was having trouble navigating her heels caught in an attempt not to get them caught on hem of her dress.
She said: 'I'm having a bit of a wardrobe malfunction at the moment!', adding that the backless item was from retailer Miss Francesca.
Meanwhile Vicky's co-star James Tindale took the Scottish theme of the evening too far in a black and grey plaid two piece suit.
However his attempt to pay homage to country was outdone by singer and songwriter Labrinth who rocked up to the afterparty of the main show in tartan tracksuit.
Labrinth's second look faired no better than his red carpet showing which saw him don a wide brimmed hat with a fringed blazer, white shirt, patterned trousers and black slip-ons.
But it was Redfoo who truly showed up and out as he lived up to the name of his former group, LMFAO, in a horrendous ensemble.
The 39-year-old rapper and producer clashed several patterns in his kilted getup which he teamed with a leather waistcoat and camel coloured trainers.
Other stars who took to the red carpet in questionable outfits included Charli XCX and Jess Glynne.
Letting her homeside down, Emeli Sandé, similar to Alesha Dixon, swamped her slender figure in an oversized gown.
The chart topping singer wore a sheer velvet kimono with a white dress and a pair of black caged heeled ankle boots.
Accessorising with a large gold necklace and heavily penciled eyebrows, Emeli wore her hair up in a Beyoncé-esque fringed updo.
