Georges Braque was born on May 13, 1882 at Argenteuil, Val-d'Oise and died on August 31, 1963 in Paris. He grew up in Le Havre as a house painter and decorator like his father and grandfather. He studied art at Ecole des Beaux-arts and worked closely with Pablo Picasso at Ceret, in the french renees. His paintings consist primarily of still lifes the are remarkable for their robust construction, low-key colour harmonies, and serene, meditative quality.
