BURGER KING SUBSERVIENT CHICKEN

This campaign was originally created to promote customization of the TenderCrisp Chicken Sandwich. Burger King wanted to gain market share in the chicken category. The advertisement was so successful in 2004, they resurrected the campaign in 2014.

This was one of the first advertisements that pushed the boundaries of what is appropriate and what isn't. It was centered around a chicken, and had the chicken in some very risqué situations. People found this to be hilarious, helping the campaign to go viral in 2004.

The advertising campaign was also interactive, where the consumer could go on the subservient chicken website and type commands for the chicken to act out. This is also another aspect of the campaign that went viral because people could share the site on all social media forums.

This advertising campaign was so successful in 2004 that in 2014 Burger King resurrected the campaign for the 10 year anniversary. While the campaign wasn't as successful, it still increased their chicken sales a considerable amount. Their 2014 campaign was more centered around the idea of a new type of chicken. The subservient chicken is old news, he's now the Chicken Big King.

Some connections i have seen between this ad, is now adds are becoming more interactive. One example of adds becoming interactive is chipotles farm ad, which was a burrito give away.

@Bradrhum I agree with you completely. These new age interactive ads are the newest thing in advertising, which is super cool for consumers because it gets them involved with the product and they get exposure to it.
