New England Economy: New England is known for their subsistence farming. Ship building, lumber, and fish were big in these colonies.

New England Government: The New England colonies were based on a direct democracy, which means that the citizens have the power rather than the Representatives. Town Hall meetings include voters in the colonies to talk about government. The Mayflower Compact was created so that all people sailing on the Mayflower would work together to help Jamestown thrive. The Fundamental Orders of Connecticut were considered to be the first written constitution and were inspired by Thomas Hooker.

New England Puritans: The Puritans were a group of people aboard the Mayflower who help found the first English settlement, Jamestown. "City on a Hill" was written by a Puritan leader convincing the Puritans on the Mayflower to stay strong through all the hardships, because in the end, they would rule over everyone else. The Salem Witch Trials were held because back in the 1600's, if people had abnormal behaviors, they would be considered witches and put on trial for doing so.
