What is an AC motor it is an electric that is driven by electrical current. Nikola Tesla was the man that invented the AC motor with rotating magnetic field that made unit drives for machines feasable and made AC power transmission a need in 1887 and 1888 Tesla owned a shop in new york and there he invented the AC motor.
Whats the purpose?
An AC Motor there is a ring of electromagnets arranged around the outside (making up the stator) which are used to make a rotating magnetic field. inside of the stator there is a solid metal axel, a loop wire, a loop wire, a coil, a squirrel cage made up metal bars and intersections.(like rotating cages to amuse pet guni pigs) In a ac motor you send power to the outer coils that make up the stator. the coiles are powered in pairs in sequence, producing a magnetic field that rotates around the outside of the motor.Induction Motors." AC motors are smaller and lighter and less expensive than dc motors.
Today AC motors are known as induction motors. AC motors are used to make things move such all kinds of software. The biggest advantage of AC induction motors is their sheer simplicity. They have only one moving part, the rotor, which makes them low-cost, quiet, long-lasting, and relatively trouble free.
