This image was edited using Pic monkey. I got my image from http://blogs.voanews.com/tedlandphairsamerica/files/2010/12/02-bus-Svadilfiri.jpg. It was a creative commons image. I would use this in my classroom during a math lesson. My students would need to solve this problem by dividing. It demonstrates problem solving skills and higher order thinking skills because my students would need to interpret the remainder and know to add another bus in order to fit everyone on the bus.
The image editor tool I used was Pizap. I got my desert image from a creative commons page. It can be found at: http://www.howtosurvivestuff.com/survival-lifesty...
I plan to use this in my classroom for my students to think about settlement of Native American environments. This demonstrates higher order thinking because my student have to first identify the environment, then they have to give reasons and evidence that explain their thinking. Students have to use what they learned to answer how Emma can adapt to the desert. They have to problem solve to answer this question.

My 5th grade students would get introduced to on-demand writing this year. This image could help my students get inspired or motivated to write. This is the type of narrative questions my students could see on the K-PREP On-demand test. This is not a higher level thinking question on the surface, but my expectations are higher level. My students are required to write 5 or more paragraphs and it needs to be narrated. I expect dialogue as well.

My students would learn how to compare and contrast these two presidents. It is a reading standard for my students to know how to compare and contrast different elements of a story. This particular assignment will help my students to start thinking about differences and similarities. It is a higher order thinking question because my students would need to research the life of these two presidents. I would give them graphic organizers to help them take notes as they research.

My students are learning about matter. I would have my students complete a graphic organizer that goes with this picture. I would help students identify each picture. They would then name if each picture is a mixture or a solution. It is a problem solving and/or higher order thinking question because students have to identify, explain, and give non examples for a mixture and a solution.
