What's the buzz at Rainbow??
Our first few weeks will consist of lots of fun, exciting new things in Spanish this year. We will begin learning our introduction (the way we start each class). Our first unit is a classroom/rules unit where our students will learn many different words that can be used on a daily basis in our classroom. One of our goals for Spanish class is 90% in the target language, which means all Spanish will be spoken for about 25 minutes of our class.
What is coming up next??
We are going to have a great year!! Get ready for lots of fun and excitement in the Spanish classroom.
Our first grade Spanish class is going to be exciting! I can't wait to see what they remember from last year.
Second grade Spanish will be full of new things! Don't forget to ask your child what they have learned.
Meet your teacher!
Hey y'all! I am originally from Brandon, Mississippi. I moved to Cullman, Al in 2014 after getting married. In Mississippi I taught kindergarten, 6th grade Science and Social Studies, and 7th and 8th grade Spanish. I taught middle school Spanish for several years so making the switch to elementary school was definitely interesting! During my time in middle school, I also got to start a dance team. They won many competitions and even got to compete at the national championships! Boy was that exciting! We are animal lovers at my house and have 2 dogs (a lab/shar pei mix named Breezy and a collie/shepherd mix named Emmy ) and a kitten named Charlie. We have rescued each of our fur babies. We love to watch Alabama (that is Mr. Powell's favorite team) and Mississippi State (Hail State!) football on Saturdays and the New Orleans Saints (that is where the name Breezy came for our dog. She is named after Drew Brees) on Sundays! We love to travel, spend time working on remodeling our house, and spend time with our friends and their families.
Class behavior and participation will be tracked using Class Dojo. During Spanish, the entire class will receive points for doing positive things or they can have points taken away for negative behaviors. The teacher will receive a progress report after the class with notes about the points that were received or taken away. There will be rewards when the students reach 25 points, 50 points, 100 points, and 200 points.
