March 2nd - 6th  

Weekly Notes:


Due to the weather we will finish lesson 4.3 in Reading on Monday and Tuesday of this week and continue the rest of the week with 4.4.    We will have a Spelling Test this week.  We will take a pre-test on Monday. 

This week we will continue to practice the long “i” in reading. We will discuss which letters put together make the long “i” sound.

We will work on verbs using saw and seen.

We will learn about point of view and discuss how it has to do with character’s thoughts or feelings. 

We will work on inflectional endings using y and changing it to ~es or ~ed.

Lesson 4.4~ How do People work with animals? 

Phonics: Long e: /ey/ /y/

GRAMMAR:  Adverbs that tell when , commas in a series, and compound words.


In math we will be working on word problems and begin discussing <=> symbols.


We will learn about plants and get ready to grow our own plants in class.

March 2- Dr. Seuss Birthday

Dr. Seuss Fun!

Monday ~We will have a rotation with the other 1st grade classes for Dr. Seuss's Birthday! We will listen to stories and have activities in the morning.

Tuesday~  Fox in Sox Day~ We will wear Crazy Socks

Wednesday~ Wacky Wednesday ~ Dress Wacky~  Miss match colors/clothes

Thursday~ Many Colored Days~  Wear your favorite colors

Friday~ Sleep Book~ We will wear Pajamas and read lots of Dr. Seuss books.  Bring your favorite stuffed animal to be your Thing 1 or Thing 2 to read with you! 


March 4-11- Under the Sea~ Book Fair~  We will attend book fair as a class on March 5th at 10:40-11:00 and March 9th at 10:40.  We will have a visitor day for those wishing to come and shop with your child/grandchild on Friday, March 6th 10:40-1:40.

March 12- Report Cards Go Home

March 23-27~ Spring Break

April 13- PTA Meeting 6:00~  Science Fair Winners Recognized

April 17- 1/2 Day for Students~ Teacher Professional Development ~  Dismissal for students at 11:00
