South Dakota State Jackrabbits
South Dakota State University is South Dakota's largest university. Located in Brookings, SD, the university was founded in 1881 eight years before South Dakota became a state. Known then as South Dakota State College the school's main focus was on agriculture. In 1923, the college organized under five divisions: agriculture, engineering, general science, home economics, and pharmacy. In 1964, the college became South Dakota State University. The school's 12,500 students now have 183 academic fields to choose from.
