Juan Peron

Juan Peron was born on October 8, 1895 in Labos, Argentina and died July 1,1974 in Buenos Aires. He was a shorter man with brown eyes and had dark hair and a tan skin complexion. At age 16 he joined the military academy and later joined the army and became a military officer. During his life span he was also a politician and elected 3 times as president of Argentina. He married his first wife, Aurelia Tizón, in 1929, but she died in 1937 of uterine cancer. During WWII he led a group of Army Colonels who seized power in 1943 which eventually led to an outstanding victory for Peron in the 1946 elections. Peron was strict leader.  He was ann extraordinarily skilled politician and he had millions of supporters, even in his years of exile. His policies were known to favorite the working class and were mostly populist.

Visual

I chose this video because it is short and informative. This video talks about how Juan Peron was an Argentine military officer and played a roll in overthrowing several governments. He was still supported by millions even after being arrested. The working class was always behind him because his rules and ideas tended to favor them. He wanted them to demand his freedom, so that is what they did. He won election as president in 1946 shortly after being released and marrying his wife Eva Peron. Peron remained in power for nine years. During his presidency he gave women the right to vote and instituted many public works programs although opposition was not tolerated. Some people believe his wife was the real cause of his success.

        Juan Peron Juan Peron

Because of you I am safe

No one could ever take your place

       Juan Peron Juan Peron

So happy I can go home

Because of you I am not alone

     Juan Peron Juan Peron

For you I wrote this poem
