Job Purpose

The purpose of being a Physician is examining patients, take medical histories, prescribe medications, order/preform/interpret diagnostic tests and diagnose and treat patients with illness or injuries. They also counsel patients on diet hygiene and preventive healthcare.  

Duties/Responsbilites

  • Take a patient's medical history
  • Update charts and patient information
  • Review tests for any new findings
  • Recommend and plan a treatment
  • Address concerns or answer questions that patients have about their health
  • Help patients take care of their health

Qualifications

Education: You must have a bachelor's degree to go to med school, and many also have advanced degrees. No specific major is required, but all students must undergraduate work in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics,  and English. They must also take courses in humanities and social sciences. Most applicants must transcripts, scores from MCAT, letters of recommendation.

Technology Skills: You don't need and specific technology skills although learning to type could be very helpful.

Abilities: You will need to have time to listen to your patients and ask them questions about how they are feeling. You certainly can not be lazy to check patients medical histories and take blood tests etc. Make sure you know understand what the patient is going through and be calm. You need to know what you are doing and should have the proper education.

Personal Characteristics: You need to make sure you can jump with patients and have time to understand each patient's problems. You also need to make sure you aren't stressed with all of the work and that you can multitask.
