Harlem Renaissance Poem
-Jade Smitherman and Korey Swaim
We remember the ancient rivers,
We remember the first civilizations,
If you were to ask us if we remember,
Seeing the glittering things out in the open,
We'd say "yes" while we worked in the shadows.
While we work in the shadows of Harlem,
We remember the world of glittering people and things,
We remember the old lies they told us.
