Gatsby wants Daisy to be the love of his life. In his early life Gatsby was very poor and Daisy's parents wouldn't approve of him. For the type of lifestyle Daisy had ahead of her she needed a wealthy husband. That's where Tom the (Polo Player) gets involved. Tom is very wealthy and soon married Daisy. Gatsby does whatever it take to become wealthy by any means. As he becomes very wealthy and well known he moves in a huge mansion across the dock from the Buchanan's home. Daisy isnt really in love with Tom but in this time frame as long as he's wealthy she has not much say so in their marriage. Gatsby throws these extravagant parties wishing Daisy would just show her face.
