The four environments: desert, oases, coastal plain and mountains

The yellow lines are the enclose the desert area. Another is that the desert is covered about 3/4 of the Arabian Peninsula. Another example, the hot and dry environment is very harsh with summer temperatures above 120 degrees.

Oases are important because they provide plant life and shade as well. Oases are occur in the areas where water has been trapped underground. The water seeps to the surface as a spring or waterhole.

Coastal Plain:

Arabia's has the largest mountain ranges run along the western and southern edges of the Peninsula. They divide the coastal plain from the desert

Arabia's mountain rise from 1,00 to 12,000 feet high. The mountain ranges have a very different climate from the rest of the peninsula. Also most winds from the Indian Ocean bring as mush as 20 inches of rain each year.
