William Lloyd Garrison

He started journalism at a young age which helped him later in life

He was born in Newburyport MA

He dad abandoned him at a young age and he lived with a baptist deacon and his mother in poverty

When he was 13 years old he was appointed to a 7 year apprenticeship as a writer and editor

As a journalist he wrote in the American Colonization society before he broke away and started writing for his own paper called The Liberator

Garrison and former slave Fredrick Douglas had made a series of 40 anti-union speeches in the Alleghenies

As the civil war broke out he continued to criticize the U.S. constitution
