Christopher Columbus was the first european person to discover the Native Americans. He arrived in the United States in 1492. He found among 2 million people living there. Columbus thought he had arrived in India, therefor he called them Indians (or the Native Americans).
The Natives were divided into many different tribes. Each tribe has its own language. They generally live differently, but they all live by the same, farming and hunting.
There has been many disagreements between the indians and the white people. Those disagreements led into wars.
